Baseball Game Preview: Wolfe City Wolves vs. Celeste Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Wolfe City will face off against Celeste. The Wolves will host the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Wolfe City will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Wolfe City's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Celeste as they made off with a 13-0 victory. Considering the Wolves have won eight matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Casen Pessel made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wolfe City is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Pessel was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Carson Herron and Nick Nowak did most of the damage at the plate: Herron went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Nowak went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Herron a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Jones, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Celeste's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4-1. As for Wolfe City, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
