Softball Recap: West Warwick Gets the Win

West Warwick came out on top against South Kingstown on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Wizards' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rebels a 6-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Wizards in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won four in a row.

Not much got past Bryce Principe, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep South Kingstown off the board. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Principe.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adrianna Carsetti, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Olivia Zajdek, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

West Warwick now has a winning record of 4-3. As for South Kingstown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

West Warwick has already played their next game, a 6-2 defeat against Cranston West on the 25th. As for South Kingstown, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-7 win against Burrillville on the 25th.
