Football Recap: Harper Woods Starts Season with Victory Against Redford Union + How To Watch

Harper Woods had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 40-0 win over the Redford Union Panthers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pioneers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Panthers are ranked 235th).

Harper Woods' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dakota Guerrant led the charge by picking up 36 receiving yards and one TD, while also punching in one score on the ground. That's the most receiving yards Guerrant has posted since back in September of 2024.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Harper Woods proved: they limited Redford Union to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The Pioneers didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harper Woods will take on Clarkston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Redford Union, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Romulus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
