Baseball Recap: Mount Pleasant Finds Home Field Redemption Against Christiana

There's no place like home for Mount Pleasant, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Christiana Vikings on Friday as they made off with a 14-4 victory. Considering the Green Knights have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Chase Wilson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Wilson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Mount Pleasant: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Cam Wright and Christian Mascucchini did most of the damage at the plate: Wright scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Mascucchini scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Mascucchini is becoming a predictor of Mount Pleasant's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Andre Monroe was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Mount Pleasant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christiana only posted a batting average of .222.

Mount Pleasant now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Christiana, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Mount Pleasant will be playing at home against Odyssey Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Green Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Owls have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Christiana, they will head out to face off against Delcastle Technical at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
