Statesboro extends road winning streak to six

Recap: Statesboro Blue Devils vs. Jenkins Warriors

The Statesboro Blue Devils came tearing into Saturday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 59-54 W over Jenkins. Given Statesboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Jenkins is ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Reya Johnson, who scored 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times she's played. Alyssa Staten was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Statesboro pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Jenkins, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Statesboro will head out on the road to challenge Bradwell Institute at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bradwell Institute will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Jenkins, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ware County at 6:00 p.m.
