Baseball Game Preview: Calabasas Coyotes vs. Oaks Christian Lions

For the first time this season, Calabasas will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to challenge the Oaks Christian Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calabasas will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Calabasas proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over Saugus.

Meanwhile, Oaks Christian has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They fell just short of Aquinas by a score of 11-10. One positive for the Lions, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Oaks Christian got a good showing from Christian Ipsen, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Quentin Young was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also launched a home run, which is notable because Oaks Christian is 4-2 when he posts at least one home run, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joshua Brown, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

This is the second loss in a row for Oaks Christian and nudges their season record down to 5-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Calabasas, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Calabasas suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Oaks Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Calabasas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
