Basketball Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. Northgate Broncos

Two dominant forwards in Yariah Asidanya and Maddison Sardelich are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pittsburg Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Northgate Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pittsburg saw some tournament action on Saturday. They slipped by Las Lomas 51-50. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Pirates' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 583rd, while the Knights are ranked 152nd).

Meanwhile, Northgate waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 52-31 win. The Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Northgate's win came from a few key players Pittsburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sardelich, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sardelich is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Samantha Myhr, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Pittsburg and bumps their season record up to 4-3. As for Northgate, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
