Softball Recap: Dos Pueblos Comes Up Short

Dos Pueblos extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 10-14 in the process. They took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ventura Cougars. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Anastasia Brunner was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double. Brooklyn Hedricks was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Ventura, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.

On Ventura's side, Makayla Halley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Marsing, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

While Dos Pueblos had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
