Basketball Game Preview: Fennimore Golden Eagles vs. Cuba City Cubans

Fennimore hasn't had much luck against Cuba City recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fennimore Golden Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Cuba City Cubans at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 71-43, which was the final score in Fennimore's tilt against Mineral Point on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Pointers are ranked 101st).

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Cuba City's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a blow against Oregon, falling 71-44. The matchup marked the Cubans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Cuba City's loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-2. As for Fennimore, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Fennimore was taken down by Cuba City 68-28 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Fennimore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
