Softball Recap: Cedar's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Cedar entered their tilt with Pine View on Thursday with eight consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with nine. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Pine View Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-3 last Tuesday.

Sadie Parson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Cedar let Kyla Johnson and Kate Lopez run wild. Johnson scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Lopez scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Lopez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shaylee Johnson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Cedar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .324 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Cedar's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pine View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Cedar and Pine View will both be playing Jordan the next time they take the field. Cedar will host Jordan at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, while Pine View will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
