Basketball Recap: Northern Durham Comes Up Short

Northern Durham lost against South Granville back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Northern Durham Knights took a blow against the South Granville Vikings, falling 73-40. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-21.

Leading South Granville to victory were Mason Brown and KJ Terry. Brown went 9 for 11 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds, while Terry went 9 of 15 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. Terry's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Hicks, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Northern Durham has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for South Granville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Northern Durham will be taking part in a tournament against Willow Spring at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Willow Spring's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests. South Granville and Cedar Valley will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. South Granville is facing Cedar Valley at the right time seeing as Cedar Valley is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
