Basketball Game Preview: New Fairfield Rebels vs. Notre Dame Prep Lancers

New Fairfield hasn't had much luck against Notre Dame Prep recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The New Fairfield Rebels are taking a road trip to square off against the Notre Dame Prep Lancers at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

New Fairfield will bounce into Friday's game after beating Kolbe-Cathedral, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. New Fairfield came out on top against Kolbe-Cathedral by a score of 52-45 on Wednesday. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but the Rebels were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame Prep had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They breezed past the Nighthawks to the tune of 76-46. The Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Notre Dame Prep's win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.5 points. As for New Fairfield, their record is now 10-5.

New Fairfield ended up a good deal behind Notre Dame Prep in their previous meeting two weeks ago, losing 60-41. Can New Fairfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
