Football Recap: Bancroft-Rosalie Falls Short of Elmwood-Murdock in the Playoffs

Bancroft-Rosalie and Elmwood-Murdock squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Bancroft-Rosalie had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 58-14 loss at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Knights are ranked 30th).

When it comes to explaining why Bancroft-Rosalie lost, don't look at Braylon Wegner. Despite the final result, he picked up 128 receiving yards and two scores. Wegner is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least 80 receiving yards the team is 3-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Brody Marsh continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Elmwood-Murdock, rushing for 203 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. That's the most rushing touchdowns Marsh has posted since back in September of 2024. Another big playmaker for Elmwood-Murdock was Clayton Wagner, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Bancroft-Rosalie is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4. As for Elmwood-Murdock, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Bancroft-Rosalie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elmwood-Murdock, they will face off against Lawrence-Nelson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.
