Basketball Recap: Elkhart Gets the Win

Elkhart won the last time they faced Deerfield and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Elkhart Wildcats came out on top against the Deerfield Spartans by a score of 73-65.

Despite the loss, Deerfield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Colten Musil posted 20 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Musil has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cristian Botello, who scored ten points and five assists.

Elkhart now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Deerfield, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 5-4.

Elkhart will challenge Boise City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Elkhart is facing Boise City at the right time seeing as Boise City is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Deerfield, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Stanton County at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. Deerfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
