Baseball Recap: Archbishop Shaw's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Archbishop Shaw waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Destrehan Wildcats 6-4. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Dalton Davidson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Steven Houin was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Archbishop Shaw now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Destrehan, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Shaw will take on St. Augustine at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Destrehan, they will square off against Lakeshore at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeshore's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Destrehan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
