Football Game Preview: DeSales Irish vs. Wellpinit Redskins + How To Watch

The DeSales Irish will face off against the Wellpinit Redskins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (DeSales has nine straight victories, Wellpinit has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

DeSales is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Pomeroy, who was ranked sixth at the time (DeSales was ranked second). The Irish claimed a resounding 52-14 win over the Pirates. Considering the Irish have won seven contests by more than 33 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

DeSales' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cohen Wood led the charge by throwing for 281 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in one rushing score. That's the most passing yards Wood has posted since back in September. Malachi Raymond also helped with three TDs in total.

DeSales' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Dominic Fazzari was especially locked on to Pomeroy's QB and sacked him twice. DeSales got some further help from Mateo Jiminez: he picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles (6.0 for loss).

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Wellpinit and Odessa had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Redskins were dealt a 72-26 defeat at the hands of the Tigers on Friday. Redskins fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Tigers since Friday.

Wellpinit's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for DeSales, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
