Basketball Game Preview: Mathis Pirates vs. Sinton Pirates

Mathis is 1-6 against Sinton since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Mathis will square off against Sinton at 11:15 a.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Mathis beats Sinton with 58 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Pirates put the hurt on Robstown with a sharp 58-35 win on Friday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Cottonpickers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Sinton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They snuck past Odem with a 51-47 win.

Sinton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Mathis, their record is now 2-0.

Mathis strolled past Sinton when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a score of 61-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mathis since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
