Basketball Game Preview: Denver Academy Mustangs vs. Flatirons Academy Bison

The Denver Academy Mustangs will square off against the Flatirons Academy Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Denver Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Gilpin County to the tune of 71-26 on Tuesday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mustangs had established a 35 point advantage.

Denver Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Luc Stanley, who went 13 of 24 on his way to 29 points and four steals, and Riley Allen, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine steals. The contest was Stanley's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Decker, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Flatirons Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Timberwolves 93-54. The Bison have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Flatirons Academy pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.9 points per game. As for Denver Academy, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-4.
