Baseball Recap: West Warwick Has No Trouble Against Scituate

West Warwick had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Scituate on Thursday. The Wizards blew past the Spartans 10-1. The victory continues a trend for the Wizards in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won seven in a row.

Adrian Gonzalez looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jair Blanco was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Riviera, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

West Warwick hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scituate struck out six times.

West Warwick's record is now 11-3. As for Scituate, they moved to 8-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, West Warwick will face off against North Smithfield at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wizards' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Northmen have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Scituate, they will square off against Narragansett at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans are facing the Mariners at the right time seeing as the Mariners are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
