Baseball Game Preview: Burgettstown Blue Devils vs. South Park Eagles

The Burgettstown Blue Devils will take on the South Park Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Burgettstown 2.3, South Park 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Tuesday, Burgettstown was able to grind out a solid victory over Bethlehem Center, taking the game 8-5. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Jayden Roach and Wyatt Stevenson made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Roach tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, South Park had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Ironmen.

South Park pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Burgettstown, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
