Basketball Recap: Falls Lake Takes a Loss

Falls Lake lost against Vance Charter back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Falls Lake Firebirds received a blow as they fell 70-52 to the Vance Charter Knights.

Despite the loss, Falls Lake saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kaleb Murphy went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Murphy a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Cooke, who posted nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vance Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gary Wilkins, who put up 16 points. Nick Pentoney was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Falls Lake dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Vance Charter, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.

Falls Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-30 loss against Bunn on the 13th. As for Vance Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-39 win against Roxboro Community on the 13th.
