Baseball Recap: Southwood Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Southwood kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 11-6 to the Churubusco Eagles. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Southwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Coan Holloway, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another was Dalton Barney, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Churubusco's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Southwood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 loss against Eastbrook on the 12th. As for Churubusco, they have also already played their next game, a 9-3 win against Northfield on the 12th.
