Softball Recap: Creekside Christian Academy Starts Season with Win Against Peachtree Academy

Creekside Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They skirted past the Peachtree Academy Panthers 11-9. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 16-3 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Caleigh Yarbrough made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Creekside Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Aviana Mathis, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Chelsea Buice was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Creekside Christian Academy will square off against Lyndon Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Peachtree Academy, they will welcome Skipstone Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
