Basketball Recap: Somonauk Comes Up Short

If Somonauk was riding high fresh off their 60-39 takedown of Leland on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Somonauk Bobcats took a 46-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Earlville Red Raiders on Friday. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Red Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

It was another big night for Adam Waite, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards for Earlville. Waite also posted five blocks, which is notable because Earlville is 2-1 when he posts at least five blocks, but 10-14 otherwise. Easton Fruit was another key player, putting up eight points and six assists.

Somonauk's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Earlville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-15.

Somonauk didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-44 defeat against Illinois Math & Science Academy on the 11th. As for Earlville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-55 loss against Polo on the 10th.
