Basketball Recap: East Wilkes Comes Up Short

East Wilkes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 30-27 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Stokes Sauras. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sauras apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

East Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for South Stokes, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Wilkes will host Wilkes Central at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for South Stokes, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against East Surry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
