Volleyball Recap: South Loup vs. Fullerton Warriors

South Loup was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fullerton Warriors. South Loup was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Fullerton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.

Emma Stallbaumer paced South Loup's offense, picking up 11 kills. Stallbaumer got some help from Rae Hagler and her 19 assists. Asa Starr and Gracie Brennan kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Fullerton found their leader in freshman Ava Smith, who had 11 digs and two aces. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Smith.

South Loup's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Fullerton, the win snapped their losing streak at four matches and leaves them with a 5-17 record.

South Loup didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Gibbon on the 11th. As for Fullerton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Ravenna on the 11th.
