Recap: Mansfield Tigers vs. DeSoto Eagles
The Mansfield Tigers lost against the DeSoto Eagles back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Mansfield had to suffer through a rough 63-24 loss at the hands of DeSoto. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mansfield in their matchups with DeSoto: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Mansfield still got an impressive performance from James Johnson, who rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Johnson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 84-yard run. Another player making a difference was Braxton Van cleave, who rushed for 120 yards on only nine carries.
Darius Bailey was his usual excellent self, throwing for 332 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 16.6 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Marvin Duffey, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Mansfield has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for DeSoto, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Mansfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. DeSoto will take on Harker Heights at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Harker Heights knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully DeSoto likes a good challenge.
