Preview: Service Cougars vs. Eagle River Wolves
Service is 9-1 against Eagle River since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Service Cougars will square off against the Eagle River Wolves at 6:30 p.m. Service has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Service put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They really took it to Eagle River for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-23 win at home. Service pushed the score to 51-19 by the end of the third, a deficit Eagle River had no chance of recovering from.
Service's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aryanna Watson, who scored 22 points. Watson is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. Karlierose Lealaisalanos was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Service pushed their record up to 7-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Eagle River, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Service hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.9 points per game. It's a different story for Eagle River, though, as they've been averaging only 35.6 points per game. The only thing between Service and another offensive beatdown is Eagle River. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Service against Eagle River in their previous matchup on Tuesday as the squad secured a 65-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Service since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
