The Breaux Bridge Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Opelousas Catholic Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Opelousas Catholic will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Breaux Bridge extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Westminster Christian Academy.
Zoey Simoneaux made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Simoneaux was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Breaux Bridge got a massive performance out of Gracie Hebert, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Laiylah Albert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.
Breaux Bridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 15 hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Opelousas Catholic made easy work of New Iberia on Wednesday and carried off a 14-6 victory. Considering the Vikings have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Remi Bihm was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Ludeau, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Breaux Bridge's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-15. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Opelousas Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Both Breaux Bridge and Opelousas Catholic just can't seem to miss. The Tigers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Opelousas Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits.
