Preview: Riverview Sharks vs. Freedom Patriots
Riverview is 3-0 against Freedom since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Both teams will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Riverview will be strutting in after a victory while Freedom will be coming in after a loss.
In what's become a running theme this season, Riverview gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They blew past East Bay 63-33 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Riverview has posted since December 13, 2023.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Freedom, who are still winless after their 14th match. They took a serious blow against Hillsborough on Wednesday, falling 73-22. While losing is never fun, Freedom can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 634th, while Hillsborough is ranked 215th).
Despite the defeat, Freedom got a solid performance out of Emma Schroeder, who scored 12 points.
Riverview now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Freedom, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-14.
Everything came up roses for Riverview against Freedom in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 53-2 victory. With Riverview ahead 36-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
