Football Game Preview: Atlantic Eagles vs. Deerfield Beach Bucks + Official Tickets

The Atlantic Eagles will challenge the Deerfield Beach Bucks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Atlantic has seven straight wins, Deerfield Beach has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Atlantic proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 22) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Coconut Creek 33-30. Atlantic's win was all the more impressive since the Cougars were averaging only 11.38 points allowed on the season.

Atlantic found their leader in sophomore Pedro Martinez, who threw for 328 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 97 yards on only eight carries. Those 328 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Martinez. James Jones was Martinez's top target, picking up 231 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Deerfield Beach played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Cardinal Gibbons 45-7. While losing is never fun, the Bucks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Chiefs are ranked 55th).

Atlantic's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Deerfield Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Atlantic against Deerfield Beach when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-8 win. In that contest, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 34-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
