Basketball Game Preview: Jackson County Panthers vs. Jefferson Dragons

Jackson County is 0-10 against Jefferson since January of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Jackson County's tournament run continued when they took on Johns Creek on Saturday. Jackson County came out on top against Johns Creek by a score of 56-44. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Jefferson had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 50-38 victory over the Bulldogs. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jackson County's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Jefferson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Jackson County suffered a grim 66-42 defeat to Jefferson when the teams last played last Friday. Can Jackson County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
