Recap: Valor Preparatory Academy Owls vs. Lee Park Prep Knights

The Valor Preparatory Academy Owls struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Lee Park Prep Knights had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Valor Preparatory Academy was beaten by Lee Park Prep 64-23. While losing is never fun, Valor Preparatory Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 615th, while Lee Park Prep is ranked 271st).

Valor Preparatory Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalia Borden, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That was a full 43.5% of Valor Preparatory Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ameera Clark, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.

Lee Park Prep found their leader in underclassman Peyton Conway, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Conway has scored all season. Baylor Currie was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Valor Preparatory Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-13. As for Lee Park Prep, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valor Preparatory Academy will face off against Carolina International at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valor Preparatory Academy is facing Carolina International at the right time seeing as Carolina International is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lee Park Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Providence Classical at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lee Park Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday.
