Softball Recap: Franklinton Wins Going Away Against Rocky Mount

Franklinton won the last time they faced Rocky Mount and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Red Rams were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Gryphons. The result was nothing new for the Red Rams, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Madison Lada made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Peebles, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Kaylei Main was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Franklinton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Franklinton and bumps their season record up to 9-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Rocky Mount, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Franklinton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Gryphons: the pair will be back at it again later today.
