Basketball Recap: Speedway Sparkplugs vs. Western Boone Stars
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Covenant Christian, Speedway was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 79-71 victory over the Western Boone Stars. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Drew Matelic had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 38 points and 12 boards. Kendrick Kiser was another key player, shooting 46% from the field on his way to 16 points along with four steals and three blocks.
Speedway was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.
Western Boone's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances.
