Softball Game Preview: Caruthers Blue Raiders vs. Fresno Christian Eagles

Caruthers has gone 9-1 against Fresno Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Blue Raiders will welcome the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Caruthers has five straight victories, Fresno Christian has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Caruthers is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Riverdale with a sharp 25-1 win on Friday. Considering the Blue Raiders have won nine matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Mia Nola, who fired off two home runs, five runs, and seven RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Gamboa, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Caruthers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 27 hits. They are 10-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Fresno Christian played against Fowler on Friday and lost via forfeit.

Caruthers' victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Fresno Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Everything went Caruthers' way against Fresno Christian in their previous matchup back in April, as Caruthers made off with a 13-3 win. Do the Blue Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
