Basketball Game Preview: Walton Raiders vs. Effingham County Rebels

The Walton Raiders and the Effingham County Rebels will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Walton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They greeted the New Year with with a 78-62 victory over Campbell. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Spartans are ranked 45th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Effingham County escaped with a win on Friday against Pope by the margin of a single free throw, 53-52.

Walton pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Effingham County, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
