Baseball Recap: Junction City's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Junction City's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Poyen Indians. The win was some much needed relief for the Dragons as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Cade Hightower, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Joe Thompson was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Junction City's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Poyen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Looking ahead, Junction City will be playing in front of their home fans against Haynesville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Tornado's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Dragons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Poyen, they will venture away from home to face off against Parkers Chapel at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
