Elk Grove is trying to defeat Grant for the fourth time in five years. The Thundering Herd are a confident bunch after trampling their first four opponents this season by a combined margin of 182-35.
Grant (4-0) enters with a 13-game regular-season winning streak. The Pacers' last loss outside of playoff competition was to this same Elk Grove program in 2013.
Names to watch: It would be a gigantic understatement to say
Ryan Robards has played an indispensable part in Elk Grove's success this season. The senior has 756 rushing yards on only 66 carries (11.5 average) with 10 touchdowns. He also has one receiving touchdown, shares the team lead in interceptions, and is the Herd's top punt returner with a 29.7-yard average. Don't forget that Robards also handles Elk Grove's punting and placekicking duties, where he averages 50.6 yards per punt and is a perfect 3-of-3 on field goals with a long of 51 yards.
Grant running back
DeShawn Collins isn't a household name in the recruiting world, but he's one of NorCal's most productive running backs this season. Collins has rushed for 756 yards and nine touchdowns and also had an 84-yard kickoff return for a score.
