Volleyball Recap: Enzo Van Gundy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hilliard Davidson over Beavercreek

After flying high against Edgewood on Saturday, Hilliard Davidson came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the Beavercreek Beavers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Beavers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Hilliard Davidson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Enzo Van Gundy, who had 12 digs. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Buck, who had 30 digs.

Beavercreek found their leader in sophomore Sebastian Pacheco, who had 21 digs and two assists. Those 21 digs set a new season-high mark for Pacheco. Maximiano Martinez also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Hilliard Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Beavercreek, they moved to 6-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Hilliard Davidson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Centerville on the 5th. As for Beavercreek, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Worthington Kilbourne on the 5th.
