Baseball Game Preview: Gleason Bulldogs vs. McKenzie Rebels

Gleason hasn't had much luck against McKenzie recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will host the Rebels at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Gleason and West Carroll had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bulldogs walked away with a 10-6 victory over the War Eagles on Friday.

Brody Sanders was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drake Lehmkuhl, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gleason kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, McKenzie had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Chargers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rebels have posted since April 23, 2024.

McKenzie pushed their record up to 10-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Gleason, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12-1.
