V Section V recap October 1, 2013
St. Johns added to the longest winning streak in V Section V this week by beating Payson, 33-19. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Redskins.
Round Valley took down Chinle 70-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nate Gutierrez threw for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 69 yards during the win.
The Elks' dynamic duo of Gutierrez and Cade Moring proved to be unstoppable against the Wildcats, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, St. Johns' Riley Raban and Jake Zieler have proven to be a lethal combination. Raban has thrown for 577 yards this season, while Zieler has 11 catches for 328 yards. Holbrook's Shem Bowman leads the league in rushing yards with 460.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place St. Johns takes on second place Round Valley. Last week, Mike Morgan's team bested the Longhorns, while Round Valley defeated Chinle.
There should be lots of points scored when the Redskins and Marcus Bell's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, St. Johns comes in having scored 207 this season, while the Elks have scored 242. The Redskins scored 33 points last week as they bested Payson.

The Roadrunners made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,802 from 9,704. The improvement was largely due to a 34-6 victory over Ganado last week.
