Basketball Recap: Central Florida Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Central Florida Christian Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Colonial Grenadiers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Grenadiers are ranked 191st).

Leading Colonial to victory were Erialys Lopez and Iliana Dorvilus. Lopez posted nine points along with seven boards and three blocks, while Dorvilus went 5 for 7 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds. Those three blocks gave Lopez a new career-high. Yaneyla Pedraza was another key player, putting up ten points.

Central Florida Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Colonial, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Florida Christian Academy will welcome Ocoee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ocoee will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Central Florida Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Colonial, they will be playing at home against Horizon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Horizon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season.
