Basketball Recap: Dawson Macklin Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Millsap

Rio Vista won the last time they faced Millsap and things went their way on Saturday too. The Rio Vista Eagles came out on top against the Millsap Bulldogs by a score of 65-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Rio Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dawson Macklin led the charge by putting up 16 points in addition to eight boards and eight steals. With that strong performance, Macklin is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Huey, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points and four steals.

Rio Vista now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Millsap, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Rio Vista Eagles duke it out with the Meyer Ravens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Millsap, they will head out to face off against Comanche at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Millsap is facing Comanche at the right time seeing as Comanche is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
