Softball Recap: Downers Grove North Takes a Loss

Downers Grove North was the 6-5 winner over Glenbard West when they last played one another on May 2nd, but their luck changed this time around. The Trojans fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 3-2 on Monday.

Ashlynn Durkin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Downers Grove North saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Lehnherr, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Downers Grove North's loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Glenbard West, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Downers Grove North will face off against Taft at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Glenbard West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glenbard South at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
