After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, Melbourne Central Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Hustlers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (101-98) Melbourne Central Catholic actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 11-25, 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 15-8.

Rossi Deane paced Melbourne Central Catholic's offense, picking up eight kills. Deane got some help from Jessica Smith and her 23 assists. Deane also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Brooke White, each putting up six.

Calvary Chapel Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Addison Sedaros, who had 50 assists and 15 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Julianne Jackson also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Melbourne Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 11-5 record.
