Baseball Game Preview: Flintridge Prep Wolves vs. Polytechnic Panthers

The Flintridge Prep Wolves will head out to take on the Polytechnic Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Flintridge Prep fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Rio Hondo Prep on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Kares by a score of 5-4.

Will Grable put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Grable wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Christopher Chino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Another was Aidan Tan, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Polytechnic lost 17-8 to Marshall on Saturday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Myles Pergament and Elijah Ip stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pergament got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Ip went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Flintridge Prep now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Polytechnic, their record now sits at 7-12.

Flintridge Prep skirted past Polytechnic 3-2 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
