Basketball Game Preview: Estero Wildcats vs. Mariner Tritons

The Estero Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Mariner Tritons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Estero is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season.

While Estero didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Cape Coral by a score of 53-42 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Amiya Lewis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11 of 20 on her way to 28 points and eight rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Vaill, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, Mariner was beaten by Cape Coral 45-13 last Wednesday. The Tritons haven't had much luck with the Seahawks recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Mariner's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Estero, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Estero strolled past Mariner in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 48-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Estero since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
