Football Game Preview: Jackson Prep Patriots vs. Jackson Academy Raiders

Jackson Prep is 9-1 against Jackson Academy since November of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Patriots are taking a road trip to square off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Jackson Prep is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Cathedral: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Patriots blew the Green Wave out of the water with a 49-0 final score. That looming 49-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Patriots yet this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jackson Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wade Smith, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries. The Patriots are 3-1 when Smith posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Another receiver making a difference was Aiden Rowe, who picked up 112 receiving yards and two scores.

Jackson Prep's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Emerson Boyd with two sacks.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jackson Academy). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 52-0 victory over Magnolia Heights. The Raiders have beaten the Chiefs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Chiefs has come to flipping the script.

Jackson Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Jackson Prep, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything came up roses for Jackson Prep against Jackson Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 37-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
