Baseball Recap: Merkel Extends Winning Streak to Three

Merkel put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Littlefield Wildcats.

CJ Walcott was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eli Delgado, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Merkel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .537 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Merkel's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Littlefield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Merkel didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-7 win against Roosevelt on the 22nd. As for Littlefield, they will challenge Sundown at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
